Eli Wakamatsu - Marie Claire UK November 2010 'In Bruges'

Love love love the story in the November edition of Marie Claire UK that Eli Wakamatsu worked on with fashion editor Sarah Christie and the photographer Kim Myers Robertson, (who made a beautiful film of the shoot) in Bruges earlier this year. One of the shots has been used as a cover for a test audience in Wales.

The team stayed at the super elegant boutique hotel called Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce which was used in the film 'In Bruges' with Colin Farrell

The pictures look amazing and completely betray the fact that the shoot didn’t run as smoothly as hoped thanks to some very stormy weather and the original model had to return home due to an accident she had before the trip. But in stepped the beautiful, fresh faced model Gabriella Holstein at Viva Paris Model agency.

Eli said  "We wanted to create her image quite womanly and weather-beaten a little, to suit the coastal location."

Eli used Chanel make-up on the shoot. Gabriella's skin was perfect with no blemishes at all so she decided to re-create a freckled texture by using much darker colour cream foundation, on top of Chanel's Soleil Tan de Chanel which gives an instant sun kissed effect.

Eli created a visible shaded area on the temples, eyes and in the cheekbones, topped by powder brush Chanel Plum attraction 63 to give little more intense glow. Eli used a Chanel grey-brown pencil  to draw freckles on her nose and forehead.

Eli used a range of Spicy brown eye shadow colours to suit Gabriella's skin tone and used matt face powder over the lipstick, to make them look dry, almost chapped looking to show Gabriella as a woman who spends lots of time by the sea.

The team made sure they didn’t leave Bruges without a well deserved look in at the best locally recommended Chocolatier (The Chocolate Line) in Bruges and picked up the tip that if you are buying Choclate in Bruges, look for this red sign which is for the masters trained at best Ter Groene Poorte culinary academy.
