Nails by Andrea Fulerton - Oh Land Instyle Magazine - and Boy George!

Andrea Fulerton
worked on the nails on this beautiful story in August’s Instyle magazine with the very cool Danish singer Oh Land with the photographer Katya Mayer. See all the images from the story here. Andrea used the
green end of the AFNB Trio Nail Polish 'Garden of eden' with  ‘Petrol in water’ [colbalt grey end] over it.

Boy George turned up on the shoot as he has just remixed one of Oh Land’s tracks. While he was there, Andrea painted his nails in a mix of two shades from the Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique range – Trio Nail Polish in ‘Princess'. The result will be recreated for the AFNB collection will be called ‘Boy George’.

Andrea then went over the nails with her new ‘Dot & Flick’ pen in black and silver and created some animal print corners. She said that he loved it!

'After Dark' - Maria and Anna talk about the shoot for the Guardian

Maria Comparetto worked on the make-up and Anna Cofone did hair on this shoot for the Guardian (Saturday 9th July edition) with Priscilla Kwateng styling and Jon Gorrigan shooting.

As the shoot was ‘After Dark, they didn’t begin until 6pm one (luckily warm) evening last month and the shoot involved going round London to major landmarks.

Anna said that for the hair “We took inspiration from the 70's... sexy teased curls but with a heavy shape around the face”. LOVE it.

Maria said “Anna’s great job on the hair inspired me to do something very late “70s”/early "80s"with the makeup”. Maria created "Uber Glossy Lips" (using Chanel Levres Scintillantes in ‘80 Etole’ followed by Chanel Glossimer in ‘Pink Peony’ on top) with a flushed cheek and lashings of Mascara top and bottom to make a “very sexy yet fresh makeup”.

Maria added “Shooting with Priscilla is always a treat and working with Jon Gorrigan for the first time was a bonus (especially sharing a mutual love of northern soul!).

“Bikinis's on Westminster Bridge!!!!!?” The team are looking forward to the next assignment. Watch this space!

Eli Wakamatsu 'On the Edge' Marie Claire July 2011

Eli Wakamatsu used Christian Dior make-up to achieve the look on this beautiful shoot with the photographer Kim Knott and the stylist Sarah Christie (Senior Fashion Editor of Marie Claire).

Eli said, "To emphasises Martha's beautiful eyes for this very stylish Mid season collection, I used Dior's 5 colour eye shadow in a dramatic combination, called 'Stylish Move'. These deep mauve and rich copper colours gives a mysterious and sexy look."

Eli then  framed the eyes with rich a Deep Brown eye pencil. In order to keep the focus on the model Martha's eyes, Eli used Dior addict colour called Red Carpet 963 to lightly tinted them so there is shape but not too much colour.

Nails by Andrea Fulerton - Instyle July 2011 Daisy Lowe

Andrea Fulerton worked on this shoot for Instyle (July) with the photographer Takay (Jed Root) in April this year at the Victoria and Albert Museum.  Here's what she had to say about the shoot:

"As always Daisy was a living doll, as charming as ever and more importantly for myself and my assistant Jenni Draper she had great nails, though I expected no less as I know our Daisy loves nail varnish, in fact I named one of my first colours after her; 'Daisy' is a bright daisy meets canary coloured yellow and was uber popular this spring!
On this shoot we used a AFNB shade called Mischa which is Gunmetal with slight gold specs and is going to be perfect for  forthcoming A/W 11 trend of metallics, metallics and  deep dark green 'the new black' of the season."

Make-up by Maria Comparetto - Guardian May 2011

Maria Comparetto used Christian Dior Make-up to create the looks on these images with the photographer Tomas Falmer and stylist Priscilla Kwateng for the Guardian (published last week) and is delighted with the results.

She said "I love these images. It was so great to work with Priscilla and Tomas on this shoot. We were all on the same 'sassy secretary wave length'."

Maria kept the makeup very nude but creamy, giving the model flawless skin then heavily contoured her cheeks & eyes.

She created a deep modern smokey sweep over the eye using Dior eyeshadow and finished off with a dewy Dior lipstick. The effect was strong and sophisticated with a nod to 80's glam.

By Eli Wakamatsu: Introducing the IDOL shoot team and how to get the look

Eli Wakamatsu recently worked on this amazing campaign for IDOL with the photographer Derrick Santini.

This is what she had to say about the shoot:

I would like to post about some of my lovely friends who are behind the brand, Idol who I worked with to create images for their latest collection.

Idol is the premium brand exclusive to New Look, attracting a host of A-list stars proving that it’s not just the international fashion labels that achieve celebrity credibility. Beyonce, Lindsay Lohan, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, JLS and Madonna’s daughter Lourdes have all been pictured in the press wearing pieces.

Please meet the talent behind the images.

First Idol’s gorgeously sharp Marketing Manager Hannah Man.

Next the gorgeous Aries, Idol's Design Director Donovan Pascal who designed the collection.

And The exciting images are captured and photographed by mad (in a good way!) and beautiful Derrick Santini.

And his long term partner (business and private), Lily !

The day of the shoot was much fun and very productive!

To achieve the look:

When you want to achieve deep blackness around your eyes like these images, try using midnight blue instead of black.

Black coal pencils and black eye shadows can look more ash than deep black when you lay those colours on top of each other.
Use black coal eye pencil to create the shape first, fill with matt black or grey shadows then then go over it with the Shu Uemura eyeliner inNight Blue and the Pressed eye shadow in Metallic Denim.
