Maria Comparetto worked on the make-up for this beautiful shoot shot by the photographer Jorgen Gomnes and styled by Yasuhiro Takehisa for Personae magazine.

Hiroshi Matsushita worked on the hair.

  

Maria decided to go for a sculptured makeup using different tones to heighten and deepen natural contours and bone structure which can appear quite strange in reality but works well complimented by the lighting.

Apparently it took half an hour to get in to one dress! It got stuck over here head and it took three of them (Maria included) to get it any further.

Eli Wakamatsu - Sarah Parish Cover Easy Living December 2010

Eli Wakamatsu worked on the make-up for this beautiful Easy Living cover shoot of Sarah Parish who Eli said was "really frank" and "beautiful" and apparently loves her gardening; taking pride in growing her own vegetables.

The photographer was Alex Sarginson and the stylist Liz Thody. Apparently a few different outfits were tried on the day, starting with a classic ‘Christmas colour’ Red dress, and the silver dress, which fitted Sarah perfectly.

Sarah said that she likes her make-up clean with a focus on her eyes, so Eli started off  with Sisley's Express Flower Gel, an amazing facial pick-me-up mask with a beautifully relaxing natural floral scent.

Eli left it on her face for few minutes to work, while Ben Cooke blow-dried her hair.

 

Eli shaped Sarah’s lips with Phyto-Lèvres Perfect Beige natural lip liner followed with Phyto-Lip Eclat Lip care in Nude.

Giannie Couji - Warwick Saint 100 Women Magazine

Styled by Giannie Couji, these amazing shots were taken by Warwick Saint (represented by Ray Brown) for 100 Women Magazine. The hair stylist was Max Pinnell (See Management) and the make-up was done by Hector Simancas (Jump Management).

The 'clothes' came from Kiki de Montparnasse, H&M, Eres and Asos.

 

Eli Wakamatsu - Marie Claire UK December 2010 'In Bruges' Part 2

Eli Wakamatsu worked on a second story for Marie Claire when in Bruges with the photographer Kim Myers Robertson and stylist Sarah Christie.

The story was a called ‘Night Vision’ using clothes with interesting textures and prints and mainly shot around the town after dark. The team finished work in the early hours of the morning to achieve these beautiful shots.

The cobbled streets and gargoyles and dragons created the perfect backdrop for the mood.

The make up look was also 'dark and mysterious'. Because it was a night shoot a flash was used and Eli wanted Sophie's eyes to stand out, and for the skin to be slightly ‘glow in the dark’.

For this she used Chanel Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminator Fluid as a base which acts as a light source on the surface of the skin.

 
To create a ’mysterious eye’ Eli used Chanel stylo yeux waterproof eyeliner ÉBÈNE no;10  and Eye shadow Les 4 Ombres SMOKY EYES 93

With plenty of INTENSE VOLUME AND CURL MASCARA in black.

And a little hint of Chanel pink lip Levres Scintillantes gloss to highlight the lips.

Hair, Make-up and Nail: Beauty Tips for Autumn

Summer is coming to an end and Autumn is now upon us. Here are some beauty tips from the artists at Emma Davies on how to survive the change in season in style.

Sisley Crème Gommante

Chanel Base Lumier

Maria Comparetto and Eli Wakamatsu both recommend exfoliating and using a face pack to get rid of any lingering scaly and patchy skin such as the Sisley Gentle Facial Buffing Cream.

Maria suggests using a few drops of Chanel Base Lumiere in to your moisturiser or foundation to wake up sullen skin. She says, “This will instantly lift your skin tone and with its illuminating qualities skin will look brighter and healthier.”

Givenchy

 Eli says that this autumn there are lots of beautiful bold colours available for lips and nails, so enjoy them - Givenchy has some great colours.

Ruth Funnell’s tip is to try some of the gorgeous taupe blushers that are around this season to give yourself some great bone structure with some subtle shading just under the cheekbone, (the new way to use blusher). A sweep over the top with a pretty peach will bring a delicate bloom and make the eyes stand out and says to also experiment using the beautiful taupe, camel and grey tones in eye palettes. These can intensify both light and dark eyes.

Ruth says “This soft approach with makeup will totally modernise the camels and nude tones of clothes that are around this season and make them appear fresh and new” and loves the Chanel A/W Enigma eye palette (as used on the Red magazine shoot), she adds “This is particularly lovely to use with just the right amount of glimmer. Water can be added for more intense colour next to lashes".

And as Maria reminds: “Rain rain go away...” use waterproof mascara as she rightfully says “Who needs panda eyes??!”

Ayo Laguda says that this is the to use deep conditioning treatments to combat dry and frazzled hair thanks to the ravages of summer and the central heating coming on.

Ayo shared his tips for creating the season’s hot hairdo (as seen in the Beauty Buzz by Ruby Hammer & Millie Kendall):

1.      Use mousse in clean dray hair and a squirt of anti frizz serum.

2.      Brush in to a ponytail at the nape of the neck and pin back any wispy bits. Hold the base of the ponytail to twist in to a tight spiral and coil it around the base to form the chignon.

3.      Tuck the end under the chignon and use grips (and maybe a light mist of hairspray to hold in to place).

Shu Uemura Essence Absolue

Anna Cofone uses Shu Uemura Art of Hair Essence Absolue on towel dried hair to help give a groomed sleek 'Chloe' inspired blow dry (of the season).

And don’t forget your nails… We need all the help we can get for our nails in the colder months so massage nail oil into your cuticles, nails and surrounding skin pre sleep to both hydrate and simulate increasing rate of growth. Ruth Funnell - Anya Hindmarch Campaign A/W2010

Ruth Funnell did the make-up on these lovely shots for the A/W10 Anya Hindmarch way back in January with the photographer Rick Truscott (represented by LGA London), styling by Anna Foster (at Naked Artists) and the hair was done by Craig Taylor (at One Make-up).

The idea for this was a 60's reportage story loosely based on a the black and white stories of that period. Ruth was inspired by Jean Shrimpton and Catherine Deneuve and actresses of that period and used thick black eyeliner and two sets of eyelashes to give the sixties look but also wanted to keep the lovely model (16 year old Emily Smith "who looked great and was perfect") as a young, fresh faced 60's starlet. Ruth wanted Emily to look like "she could have done the makeup herself to give it a 'real edge' to the look". 

Ruth finished with a grey tone on the nails and a nude lip as a reference to this seasons A/W10 makeup to modernise the look.

Ruth Funnell - RED Magazine November 2010

Ruth Funnell worked on the make-up for this beautiful shoot in the November edition of Red Magazine with the photographer Todd Marshard (represented by Katy Ryan) and stylist Deborah Brett (represented by aandr photographic) back in early May  on a cold and windy beach at Camber sands.

Ruth used Chanel Vitalumiere base (sparingly where needed) on the face followed by shading in browns and greys with the Chanel A/W10 colour Enigma eye palette to give a soft pared down look on the eyes with just a minimal cover of mascara, taupe shading on the cheeks and bare nude lips and no nail colour. 

The aim was to make the models look effortless in an homage to a 90's Peter Lindberg 'windswept on the beach look'. 

 "The girls were great" said Ruth, "We worked with the gorgeous Chandra North [who still looks amazing], Jayne Windsor [with her incredible bone structure] and the lovely Katie Ball.
