George Northwood at the Vogue Festival - Day 2

The second day of the Vogue Festival was ten hours of manic, relentless, worthwhile, stylish, fashion fun.

Based in the Beauty Hall, the Josh Wood Atelier team was working mini miracles.

Laura Bailey

We were knocking up scalp plaits, up dos, top knots and waving out that beachy tong like our lives depended it.

The three main looks of the room were the classic smokey eyes, bright red lips and a five minute fling with myself for a style fix.

By the afternoon I felt like Robert Palmer in the Addicted to Love video. Stunning.  It was such a great buzz for me, amazing to catch up with the Vogue girls, I’ve missed them so much.  The only thing that kept me going all day were the amazing Vogue cookies …. Heavenly!

Russian Vogue - Make-up by Emma Miles

Emma Miles worked on this Jewellery shoot for Russian Vogue with the photographer Mark Mattock and Suki Waterhouse modelling. Here's what she had to say about it:

The theme was tropical so I had to warm the models skin up to look tanned. I applied a sheen of  moisturiser to make the skin look light reflective and dewy. The lip was a Nars Jungle red, with a Mac lip glass on top to create a beautiful full glossy lip.

Rainy Day Make-up By Eli Wakamatsu

Today, I would like to talk about 'Water resistant make up' to share with you in showery London. (And any other parts of the world, it seems we're not the only ones!)

This can also apply to the Pool/Beach make up and the Hot and Sweaty summer make up tips.

The first thing I ask with 'waterproof make up' is Do you need to wear foundation ?

If so, invest one like DiorSkin Forever new formula with its extension of super skin care  that are long lasting, sweat proofing coverage or Clinique's Almost Makeup SPF 15 which contain anti oxidants and gives chemical free protection to your skin as well as oil free long wear natural skin perfecter.

If you desire more coverage that lasts a long time without fading or streaking in wet weather, try Clinique's Superfit Makeup, again oil free.

Next the Cheeks and eyes...There is much more water proof point make up available nowadays and the quality of them is just incredibly good, they are durable to apply and come in very wearable colours.

I recently contributed for the Artist Edits page fo Becca, and the brand has my favourite perfectly beautiful cheek and eye cream tints which are water resistant and streak free.
These easily blendable tints can be applied by finger tip or brush, and can be layered.

There are many water proof mascara in the market, so it's about finding the one with the wand to suits your eye shape, if you have almond shape eye like mine, with short eyelashes, try a thinner wand type rather than thick types.
A ball shape wand like Givenchy Phenomen`Eyes Mascara BLACK is great.

If you have big eyes with long lashes, you will need a thick brush.

Finally, if you are still worried for your make up in watery or steamy conditions or by the pool and beach, You can try Clarin's Fix' Make-Up mist to sets the make up and prolongs it's hold with continuous hydration.

After the Rain, comes the Sun, enjoy !

Light & Shade - By Eli Wakamatsu

Eli Wakamatsu worked on this shoot for Marie Claire. Here's what she had to say about it.
Marrakech is a location where lots of editorial shoots happen, especially this time of the year when you need a good sun to shoot spring and summer clothes.

I have been to the place many times yet still, Morocco holds very special place in my heart and is one of my favourite locations in the world. It is a magical and exotic place where Orient met Africa though an ancient trade route known as the Silk Road. It has incredible local cuisine, music and culture.

For this shoot, the team stayed in this beautiful hotel called Ksar Char Bagh located in the edge of Palmeraie.

The room, food, service, everything about the hotel was superb, my room had its very own roof terrace where I could sunbath with a view of the magnificent atlas mountains with snowy caps in distance.

On the Face I used Dior skin Nude for a radiant and transparent finish.

I used the 5 colours iridescent eyeshadow with the Diorshow Waterproof Liner in Chestnut

On the nails I used METALLIC SILVER072

I swept Dior Bronze Make-up in Spicy Tan 004 on the Cheeks and Temples and used Dior Addict Extreme on the lips.

I would like to finish with a image of  the sunset from my hotel room in Marrakech, truly a magical place.

By Ruth Funnell - Shu Uemura Make-up Artist Event

I was excited to attend the Spring/Summer 2012 launch for Shu Uemura last week and meet the amazingly talented creative designer Kakuyasu Uchiide, who worked alongside the legendary Mr Uemura himself for more than 20 years.

It was really great to see him at work and understand the philosophy behind the brand and to see his unique approach to colour and application of his makeup on the face.

One product that really stood out and amazed me was the New Face mask which just felt incredible - it is unlike any other product out there.

There are 6 in a pack and they can be used like an intense facial before a night out or when the skin is feeling fatiqued and needs brightening and lifting.

They can be left on for as long as you like, but 20 mins minimum is ideal.

They don't need to be washed off, you leave the product on so that it sinks in and just make sure to add a moisturiser on top to seal all the goodies in!

Just be careful not to open the door to anyone whilst wearing it ;-) !

By Ruth Funnell : YSL Make-up Artists Event - Product Lowdown

YSL is always a favourite of mine to attend, to see new products. Everything they do is so beautifully packaged and feels luxe and decadent and you just want to put them straight into your makeup bag or clutch, and go out for the night !

The new product that is very exciting, is their range of all in one High Gloss Lipstains. They come in an amazing choice of 19 colours and so there is something for everyone, from fab reds, fushias like No1 which is a deep classic YSL purple fushia  through to soft beiges and pinks. You apply them by building up the intensity and gloss you require by layering with the sponge applicator.

The staying power is incredible -you need to remove them with their Top Secret Eye Makeup remover as the stain does not budge for many hours.

The other products that are new this season are the Pure Chromatics Eyeshadow palettes [6 different colour sets] -beautiful deep tones with metallic shot through them -everything you would expect from YSL in terms of texture and jewel tones.
The colours are so rich and gorgeous that they are shouting out  to be used on an editorial shoot straight away!..... :-)
