Ziggy Played Guitar - Make-up & Blog by Emma Miles

The inspiration for this shoot for Italian Amica with Michael and Sandrine was obviously David Bowie, mainly Ziggy Stardust era, so I prepared by researching all his looks.

We wanted to give it a modern edge so I drew a lighting bolt freehand on Bianca's face and painted it with Metallic sliver.

The stylist Laurent guided me through each look and we designed make up to fit with each style.

Blended pinks and fuchsia's with gold leaf third eye. Doing small variations for each look. Metallic sliver lip, gold glitter lip etc.

This has been one of my favourite shoots to date and I think the key to a successful story of this standard is definitely working together with a great team.

Ripping Yarns by Emma Miles

The Ripping Yarns story for Harrods was based on a puppet theme using wool as the strings. It was to be a quite androgynous and sinister story.

With this in mind and the brief I was given I decided to focus on the eyebrows making them heavy and dense and emphasised.
I used darkness under the lower lash line to create a unconventional makeup to compliment the mood and feel for the story.
A lot of contouring to hollow out her facial structure to give her a puppet like feel.
I used two different shape and sizes of Japonesque fake eyelashes and placed them in a way that enhance and elongate the upper lash line to make the eyes appear large, reminiscent of a puppet doll who eyes always seem to big for their puppets face.
And a strip of lower lashes to finish off the doll like effect.

Stylist Holly Ounstead now represented by Emma Davies Agency

I am delighted to announce that stylist Holly Ounstead has joined the agency.

After graduating from Bath School of Art and Design in 2011 with a BA Hons in Fashion and Textiles design, Holly spent a summer interning at Alexander McQueen and there after assisting stylist Magda Bryk.

Holly started fashion styling at 1883 Magazine in October 2011. She started to put together her own fashion editorials for online, and things started happening from then on. Very early on, Holly decided to stay focussed on being true to herself and her own style.  She has since worked on numerous editorials which have been printed, both Fashion, Beauty and Still life shoots.

Holly has recently have styled upcoming bands, PEACE, TRUST and BIGkids; Actresses Myanna Buring and Antonia Thomas who liked the look for the shoot so much, stayed with the look for an awards ceremony that evening.

Holly was put in charge of heading up the 1883 Beauty section alongside her role as Junior Fashion Editor, which has since grown from its initial 2 page still-life spread to a current 16 page section including features on talented industry professionals such as Peter Robb King and Mary Greenwell.

Once in a Lifetime Trip - by Eli Wakamatsu

Every now and then, I am so grateful for being a make up artist as I get to travel to amazing places for shoots, and this trip for Marie Claire UK was certainly a 'once in the life time' experience, travelling in style, shooting in and on the Eastern Oriental Express train as the train runs between Bangkok to Singapore over 4 days and 3 nights.

The first shot on the first day before the train's departure was in the tropical squall showering and cooling down the heat, which gave us a fabulous start of this dramatic story in full swing ! Good job we love some drama !

Marie Claire Fashion editor Sarah Christie and I took local taxi back  after dinner in Bangkok.

We got on the train in Bangkok with such excitement, checked into our individual cosy an suite rooms, which are turned into bedrooms for the night as we had our delicious dinner in the infamous dinning carriage. When I came back from the dinner, the seat in my room was turned into a comfy bed with crisp luxury linen like this.

On the second day, we got off the train near the River Kwai and spent the day  shooting around the river, sometimes on the boat like this one below.

As the train enters Malaysia from Thailand, there is a tranquil view of lush vegetation, Rice fields and steamy  mountains on horizon wrapped me with tropical Asian moisture air   .. Bliss..

Model Leah wore LE VERNIS Chanel Nail colour 637 MALICE,  Chanel LONG WEAR LUMINOUS EYESHADOW 817 APPARENCE, Chanel ROUGE ALLURE VELVET LIPSTIK 307 L'IMPATIENTE and Chanel ILLUMINUS POWDER
